The hero in the green suit with a mask covering only his eyes, the one nobody can never recognize. I mean come on, you know the guy personally, and he’s in front of you with a little mask (or a little paint in his eyes) and you can’t recognize him ? That’s a lot of crap. Enough about that, it just came to my mind and I had to say it.
This season was heavy. There was a lot of information in just 23 episodes. Sometimes I forgot it was only the second season of the show. The fact that there’s basically two plots at the same time (starling city and the island), and so much is happening. During this season everybody was hype for the Flash cameo. Everybody who knows a little about the DC universe were waiting for Barry Allen’s appearance. We wanted the Flash to speed is was through Starling City. Well we got Barry Allen. The little scientific from Central City. He’s the one who actually converted the face paint of Oliver to the mask. (like that make a big difference)
During the season we saw how Shado died and how Sara Lance lived. (at this point if I didn’t saw Robert Queen death on screen I’d believe he’d still be hanging around somewhere in the world training) Because yeah…. if you survived the shipwreck you come back stronger and trained in martial art, master bowman and become a lethal assassin. (who needs a martial dojo when you got an isolated island ?) During the Island storyline, we met Professor Ivo one of the 13 immortals master inventor and robotic engineer. Well in the series is nothing like that but he’s a scientific who wants the japanese’s formula: The Mirakuru (Miracle). Why he wants it ? To save his wife. The bad guy doing bad things to achieve a good thing cliché. Just like Sebastian Blood in Starling City.
What I liked about this season ? Well about being a good season in general, I liked firstly the story. The struggle of Oliver Queen to balance is professional life and he’s masked life. The struggle with his family, discovering the lies of his mom, trying to conceal his identity from his sister. The struggle of the Arrow to not kill. Even if the reason wasn’t all that important to me (maybe just me), and I actually liked the fact that he didn’t until the end of the season. I liked Slade Wilson -Deathstroke-. He’s madness, he’s genius strategy, he’s accent. Sometimes watching Slade Wilson all I could think about was, what the hell Crixus thinks he’s doing ? Spartacus or Gannicus need to come and put him in check. I also like the apparition of A.R.G.U.S and the suicide squad, and also the apparition of that young (and hot) version of Amanda Waller. Barry Allen’s cameo of course. Felicity being a little bit more in the action instead of being stuck behind her computer. I liked Inspector Lance. He’s character changed from that stuck up policeman, to that understanding guy and great father. At least from my point of view as the viewer (and being on the Arrow’s side by default)
What I didn’t like ? First of all, John Diggle. Why ? He was practically useless. And he’s always there at the right moment to do nothing (or get knocked out). He even got his own episode to shine, but still…. I like his character, he keeps Oliver in check when he needs to, and he’s keeping Felicity company when she’s lonely. (that must be useful in some kind of way I guess). I think the writers don’t like him. And I really think he can do a lot more. I didn’t like Roy Harper. He was already a stubborn guy, now with the Mirakuru in his blood, he wasn’t getting any friendlier. He’s not likeable in the first place. Now that he’s cured and he’s freed from Tea, so we hope that in the third season he’ll take his role as Speedy (or Arsenal). Speaking of Tea, i didn’t like her that much this season. She was the Drama Queen (pun intended). I get it she’s mad, she feels betrayed and everything, but a some point she must’ve take a moment and think of the bigger picture, and see that everything isn’t about her. Isabel Rochev….ugh I wanted to slap her so hard. (nothing else to say right)
Now the things I don’t like it’s not because I think they made the season bad, or that the weaken the plot, it’s just that I don’t like them. I think everything here that I stated that I don’t like, made the series better. They improve the drama, the story gets more interesting because of them (maybe not the Diggle thing). So what I don’t like is maybe things that makes me mad as a person, but I also understand why they are here as a viewer.
I am going to rate the season. Again I have no authority whatsoever to do that, but the heck with it. 9/10. Pretty high I know. Because I really liked this season. Arrow as become a very good series to watch. This season got the action, got the moves, got the drama and quite a good storyline, and I really like the fact that he didn’t kill. And that they didn’t do the oh nooo I killed you by accident crap. I was expecting it, but they didn’t and I’m happy about that.
Leave me a comment and tell me what y’all think.
